Sons of Perdition
It’s finally done. Sons of Perdition: New Mexico in the Secret History of the Catholic Sex Scandals is now available at Amazon.com and elsewhere. It is an overview of sex and clergy and the roles played by the Inquisition, the pope, and oh yes, my own homeland of New Mexico. You can read much more about it at my “new” website, sarabite.info. This is a mash-up of all my other websites. My archive of articles which form the basis of much of the book, Priests of Darkness is still available but updated and at a new address. I haven’t had a chance yet to clear out all the cruft, wonky code, and dead links, but now that the book and sites are up, I may have a chance.
In the course of my research, I’ve found even more amazing things than the Spanish Inquisition lurking about. Enough perhaps to justify another book in time. But as for now, I think I might concentrate on turning the funniest thing I’ve ever written, Once Upon an Inquisition from a screenplay to a novel. At least, that way it would see the light of day…
I also plan to redo this blog, allowing comments and expanding the number of topics I cover. Believe it or not, I have interests beyond clergy abuse and flying saucers (odd combination that ;-> ), spiritual interests, in such things as Hermeticism, Gnosticism, and Cabala, particularly as how such motifs are expressed in the modern world.
So stay tuned. Still got time to get crazy before it all comes down on December 22, 2012… or not.
Peace,
Jay Nelson

The reason this poor blog has been so neglected has nothing to do with the subject matter, depressing as it often has been. No, the only reason for seeming to desert Abandoned Altars is that I have had bigger fish to fry. Much bigger fish — like the entire history of sex in the Catholic Church.
